Got a new EXTRA FIRM foam mattress topper. The mattress underneath is still squishy, but it doesn’t deform into a hammock any more. Now it’s like a crust on top of a pudding, which is a marked improvement! That, plus a new weighted blanket, and I’m no longer tossing and turning.

It always surprises me that green bean casserole didn’t join tunafish and green olive gelatin molds in the Museum of Things We Don’t Eat Any More.

But this looks pretty good. youtube.com/shorts/j1IOZ...

I have to be honest, I’m not that thankful this year.

Remember when Trump unexpectedly tore down a third of the White House without asking? How’s that going? We ever figure out if they released a giant cloud of asbestos or what?

Oh, while I’m at it, how’s his free gift plane from a foreign government coming along?

Crypto scams still scamming strong?

They turned the first step in the journey into a destination in its own right and now instead of embarking on adventures, we’re all stuck in the gift shop listening to an ad loop while we ask the arcade Genie to tell our fortune.

The worst homemade stuffing I ever tasted had raisins and corn and canned button mushrooms.

Time was if you were an antisocial whacked-out pants-pooping crackpot you’d have to print your deranged theories in a newsletter and send it through the mail to your dozens of subscribers.

Nowadays they’ll elect you president twice, or put you in charge of HHS, or what-have-you.

Progress!

I’m so tired of colonizing and being colonized. Can we get a new structural metaphor already? No more pioneers, no frontiers, no staking claims, no expanding horizons, no virgin territory, no circling wagons, no green fields or blue oceans, no brand ambassadors, no opening markets, no north stars.

I’m gonna reserve judgement on #Plur1bus because I like the concept and the vibe, but I’ll agree with everyone who says the first 4 episodes have been too slow and Carol is a difficult protagonist to root for.

LPT: Puréed kimchi makes pretty good salsa just as is. Add a little toasted sesame oil, a little vinegar, and some cumin and it’s amazing.

(I’m always looking for alternative salsa #recipes because I’m allergic to tomatoes.)

A friend who teaches theology shared with me a post about CS Lewis's Mere Christianity, which discusses foundational Christian logic across denominations. It reminded me of Dale's tweet below, and I wanted to share some thoughts here regarding modesty and respectability, which are often hot topics.

The left joins with right against the middle takes on the Trump/Mamdani meeting are way off. There is nothing substantive here. There will be no policy breakthroughs. That’s not what this is about. It’s about a young smart guy who knew how to play an old fool who worships stars.

I’m listening to a book about the effects of grief on the body. It’s good, and the narrator is doing a great job with all the technical language.

… except that she says “dia-BEE-tus” just like Wilford Brimley, and I can’t help snickering every time.
