Tiny homes are a flawed solution to LA’s homelessness crisis, investigation finds
Investigation uncovers flooding, broken heaters, and safety concerns. Critically, more than half of residents end up homeless when leaving LA’s tiny home villages.

Is it good when federal judges have to schedule Sunday night 10 pm hearings about absurd military invasions of their state.
COMING UP: Judge Immergut has set a hearing for 10 pm ET tonight (!) on Trump's effort to circumvent her temporary restraining order re: Oregon national guard deployment by calling up the federalized California national guard.

Hey, you guys?

Is it a good sign or a bad sign if a federal judge has to remind you (multiple times) that you’re a lawyer and an officer of the court?
Immergut: You're an officer of the court. Do you believe this is appropriate way to deal with my order?

Hamilton: I'm not a policy maker

Immergut: You're a lawyer

In response, Hamilton basically argues no geographic limit to federalization of CA guard...

In 2023, I wrote about a young veteran who ended his life in jail as LASD sheriff’s deputies watched videos on their computers and failed to perform standard welfare checks in his dorm.

Today, his family revealed new evidence that deputies also falsified safety check records.

California Attorney General Rob Bonta filed a lawsuit today against LASD and LA County over “unconstitutional and inhumane conditions” at LA County jails.

Bonta highlights that we’re on track to have “more in-custody deaths in 2025 than at any time in the past twenty years.”

The US used to have free to low tuition until schools couldn't discriminate based on race
Countries with free tuition: Germany, France, Denmark, Czech Rep, Sweden, Uruguay, Turkey, Taiwan, Iceland, Austria, Finland, Greece, Egypt, India, Norway, Brazil, Argentina, Kenya, Luxemb., Slovenia, Mexico.

Something about the next generation being the future of the country, I guess.
I was a first-gen, working-class Black student who took on student loans to get here.

This GOP budget would've slammed that door shut on me—and now it will for future generations.

We should be expanding access to college, not widening the achievement and racial wealth gap.
