😡 russia deliberately hit the Turkish ship VIVA in the Black Sea - 11 people on board, just carrying sunflower oil to Egypt along the grain corridor.

And yes, the world will probably just watch and say it’s “concerning”…

Of course I’m going to CES. Again. Why would I not?
Normal people can look forward to easing their way back into the work after the holidays, but I know I won’t have that luxury–because I will once again fly to Las Vegas for CES only a f…

#CES2026 virtual press conference notes - 1) CTA went to visit Canada and Hong Kong among their international visits. Hmm. 2) Maybe I missed it, but no bragging about "More exhibitors than ever" this year so far. 3) Palmer Luckey has a CES keynote. Seriously?

A bit inconvenient for potential alien life forms if they’re constantly being incinerated by their own suns
For the first time, astronomers have detected a coronal mass ejection from a star other than our Sun, and it was a big one – powerful enough to strip the atmosphere from nearby planets. That's bad news for the search for extraterrestrial life. Here's why: physicsworld.com/a/astronomer... 🧪⚛️🔭

And, not to be a hater but...

If you hear someone saying cooling will be easier in space, you can instantly write them off as someone who has never read a single relevant book or paper and never talked to a single person with undergraduate level expertise. This is very basic.

Some have argued to me strongly that even if Loeb is wrong, he’s getting people interested in 3I/ATLAS and that’s a good thing for science.

But Loeb isn't just wrong, he's recklessly following an old playbook that got 39 people killed in 1997.

Loeb’s Behavior is Reckless
I’ve largely ignored Loeb for the past few weeks. When he started in on his 3I/ATLAS thing, there were plenty of mainstream media outlets willing to give his claims a wide and credulous platform, and ...
