Been working on a timing based deckbuilder recently. I have a prototype out on https://doommustard.itch.io
I've been working on my paper mario inspired deckbuilder and I have transitions into and out of combat fully implemented, as well as a system to store both the combat and overworld environment simultaneously loaded but while ensuring only one runs at a time. #gamedev #godot. #indiedev

I've added Keyword Hints to my #TimingBased #deckbuilder
Should I just upload this new version to itch immediately? keyword hints make the game so much easier to figure out especially since the feature can be used to make small tutorials.

I've added some animations to the enemy, as well as more #programmerart for it

With animations for the enemies it has been much easier to realize that my block mechanic was working as intended, but NEEDs enemy animations to be fun to use.

animation and sound effects really add to the impact of the timing based ⏰ #deckbuilder 🃏I'm working on, even these ones that don't really fit the vibe I'm going for still add a ton to the experience.

As part of recovering from sick I had to do a ton of cleaning today, so I couldn't work on #gamedev. but while I was, I had my old school laptop, dump my old game projects onto an thumb drive so I could look back on them on more stable hardware. Here's something I made in 8th grade.

An example of how this might be useful is in the wand item, which needs to check the combo to decide if its going to be thunked over an enemy's head or cast a spell, there's no reason the spell shouldn't come out if you managed to get the combo out during the thunking.

Added a quick and dirty description of what cards do to my Timing-based⏰ #Deckbuilder

I also added a leniency value to the combo effect so now a combo will still occur even if the card is coded to check the combo value before you manage to get one in.
