I like to think that in a hundred years there will be an Epstein Files Day where they symbolically drop the now-vintage documents as a celebration of finally defeating the fascists.

They think writers can be replaced because they don't understand what writing is effective, yes, but don't discount the desire to cut human labor out of the process entirely, not just for "cost savings" but because the management class and especially the investor class just fucking hate humans.
Is that why people think that ChatGPT and other AI(?) could replace authors - the people in management can't recognize good writing and so assume that no one else can, either? It seems like that would quickly be dismissed witjh any sort of beta readership, but.

I would just like to point out that "In The Summertime" is filled with a lot of pretty bad advice.

Me: scrolling Instagram

Instagram: shows me a WalMart ad for some drum stuff.

Me: clicks on one ad once just to see what they're selling something for.

everyone's goal for 2026 should be getting into using RSS feeds & readers for updates on everyone's projects rather than relying on social media alone. I don't think "big, badly moderated forums where everyone hangs out and gets cranky" are working great for that.

I still follow a lot of vintage computer people on here, and I feel like I shouldn't anymore.

Bon Jovi must surely be at least three quarters of the way there by now.

$600 billion.

$600 billion.

With a "b."

It's impossible for my mind to comprehend an amount like that. It's so large it may as well not exist.

Happy 100th to Dick Van Dyke today! 💖
He was a huge part of my childhood in movies and on tv.

"Music is the only art form that will usurp motor control of your body. On the dance floor, people are in public thrusting their pudenda at each other in an overt sexual display. Try that without music. You get arrested."

Oh, I've sold all of my vintage computers. I guess that means it's time to pare down my following list.

I ordered a T-shirt off of Redbubble and I didn't notice until after I paid for it that it's from a British maker. Great, now I get to pay double the price in duties and tariffs.

It really sucks that this has to matter now. Normally it wouldn't bother me at all. I love my friends across the pond.

Kinda wish Kurt Neumann would find someone to rerecord all the old BoDeans stuff so I can bring myself to listen to it again.

We really need to double down on outwardly stating our work does not contain AI.

We're seeing it in movie credits and books, we have to start putting it on things we make and pressuring others to label their work as human made, and normalize that as much as we can, I think.
stuff like this maybe

We need to teach our young men about misogyny so they don't think it's okay to become like him.

I just ordered a cheap DSP rack effects unit from Temu. I'm curious to see what it can do, and if it's any good for anything.

I'm predicting that it implements old Alesis algorithms.

Temu has a DSP effects unit on sale for $43 and I'm tempted to get it to see if it has any use.
