I’m a grandma, a former Special Ed. teacher, and a writer who loves to paint and doodle in words or in color. I’ve always lived in beautiful places surrounded by good people. I’m a possible SPS patient impatiently hoping for a cure.
Gorgeous weather and everything feeling warm and washed clean. Amazing how beautiful this world can be if I turn off the news and draw a breath. But then we have to care about everyone who can’t stand up for themselves. So breath and breathe and return to the world.

Such a warm beautiful day here today. My son and his dog and I went for a walk in the harbor and it barely felt like Anything resembling fall.

Time change blues? Is that a thing or is it the start of a predicted ten day stretch of rain or the cost of living. Or having a cold and not having my voice? Anyway, feeling down but I voted Yes here in CA and I have a roof over my head for another month

"We all must tell the Forest Service what roadless areas on our national forests mean to us, why they are important, and why roadless area protections need to be retained and strengthened, instead of repealed." – Suzanne Cable, Wilderness Watch board member

Why Roadless Areas Matter for Wilderness Preservation
We should all be deeply concerned about the most recent challenge to the integrity of America’s national forests—the proposed repeal of the 2001 U.S.

#recipe #watercolor #septthetable #apple fall harvest of my magic apple tree. The trunk rotted and the tree fell in 2006 but the bottom branches dug into the earth and rooted and I still get apples. This pie is like a custard

When I was a student in Beijing I fell in love with the food, even while still craving the foods from the Chinese restaurant in my Oregon hometown that was nothing like what was available. But the best new discovery was an old dish called Mongolian Hot Pot. #recipe #watercolor #septthetable

The love of poppy seed desserts at Pittsburgh where my Dad grew up isn’t found where I’ve lived. lemon poppyseed muffins or everything bagels but no sweet ground poppyseed.

All I can say is I’ve heard you can test dirty in a drug screening if you have eaten this

I hesitated to add the name my family used but googling told me it was in common use around Pittsburgh to refer to both the food and ourselves but not as a derogatory term. Also that the same people who say “all y’inz” for all of you-unz call ourselves a hunky bunch. Or hunkie. #septthetable

This recipe came from extended family,
My Dad’s brother in law had a sister who treated me like family and when we went from Wyoming to Pennsylvania for summer visits she would invite me over for lessons in how to cook. These pretzels and chicken paprikas & rye bread were my favorite Margie memories

I love this recipe from an old Church of God cookbook my mom and grandma and great grandma worked on when I was tiny. This was from one of the ladies who was kind to children but one of the elderly ones even then. #sept-the-table from Cody, Wyoming
