Tbh it's pretty clear how you keep Reform out of Gorton/Denton.

It's not voting for the third placed party. That might let them in tho

'ICE and the Border Patrol are now filled with sadistic thugs.'

'the courage and decency of millions of ordinary Americans...have been so dramatically on display in Minneapolis. We can only hope that this courage and decency get us through this nightmare...we must do all we can to make it happen.'
Agree with every word.

But additionally this should serve as a warning and a cautionary tale for us in the UK.

Today, Minneapolis sent a clear message: ICE is not welcome here, and we will protect our community!

‘With the regular routine winding down and less work for everyone to do, boredom inevitably set in.’

'Still, despite the obvious advantage of combining distributional, telemetry, and tracer data sets, empirical and statistical studies that do so remain rare in the literature.’

The spivs who run Great Northern Railways at the moment are trying to avoid a delay repay to me, despite being provided with all the necessary information + evidence. Thankfully they are coming into public ownership in May - hopefully I’ll get my payment from them before that

The ‘Board of Peace’ is a protection racket on an international scale that would impress Trump’s mentor Roy Cohn.

Look at this lovely item which has just arrived. I don’t normally buy new books any more but I really like his Instagram content and it has lots of useful stuff in it. Any day now I’ll be getting out of my armchair and get cracking up the allotment!

Let's talk to young people about this rather than making assumptions.
It will be very interesting to see how the Australian ban on social media for under 16s plays out - how it affects various metrics, how meaningfully enforceable it is, and so on.

But it's been interesting discussing a potential ban here with the 14 y.o.

Let us not forget that Nigel Farage - the leader of Reform UK Ltd - encouraged Donald Trump to wage economic warfare on the UK, exactly what he is doing, today.
I hope BBC journalists and others question him on these words.

Today we honor Dr. King by remembering that his legacy wasn’t comfort or quiet it was courage, sacrifice, and resistance in the face of injustice. He knew progress is never handed down; it’s pushed forward by ordinary people who refuse to accept inequality as normal.

I’m 6 1/2 hours into a 7 1/2 hour Sunday train journey home from Norfolk (don’t ask!) I keep being reminded of this Substack post from @samfr.bsky.social the other day open.substack.com/pub/samf/p/t... - the irritation of shitty Wi-Fi on trains. I’ve been on 3 different companies today + all rubbish

67% of Reform MPs have previously been elected as representatives of the Conservative Party. They broke the country last time; do you trust them to fix it?

Travelling east today - it’s all gone swimmingly until I got to Stratford (via the marvellous Elizabeth Line). Then I was met with this - open platform, almost no shelter from the rain, very little information about where to go to catch next train. Not v impressive

🧵A political/media guide to the "truth" about net-zero

1) Add up costs to install & run a net-zero energy system
2) Pretend fossil-fuelled alternatives wld be free
3) Do say "eco zealots are bankrupting us"
4) Don't say "free cars if we scrap net-zero" cos it sounds ridiculous
5) That's it!

"Battle Hymn of the Republic" is not a song to be taken on lightly ... but in light of this New Year Trumpian news onslaught, we're sharing this adaptation, called "Battle Hymn of the Empire" - as Trump goes marching on, and dragging us all back to the nineteenth century.

Finally managed to deactivate my X account after trying on and off for a year. I still kind of liked my corner of the place, and I’ll really miss the bird stuff on there. But I don’t want to be contributing one single thing to supporting Musk in any way shape or form.
