Real talk: The hardest part of moving to France & the thing that has led to many sleepless nights in the nearly 2 years since I arrived is that I miss movement building and I miss working to bring other people hope. One day, perhaps. One day.

This dunce Council thinks they won but all Katie has to do is pull a Bruce or a Jenny & just not spend the $. Let it sit/use it in only the strictest terms that follow the MDARs. As for graffiti, just pass a policy removing burden from property owners & use that $ for in-house on-call spot removal.

As an American with a vision impairment that disqualifies me from driving, I can't adequately express how lucky I feel to live in a top 10 biking city on the Copenhagenize Index. I feel very lucky indeed.

Let's keep up the good work & go for top 5!

The kind of ambition Seattle will have under Mayor Wilson.
🎉 Nantes : 10ème ville la plus cyclable au monde, selon Copenhagenize !

🤗 Le travail continue, à #Nantes et dans sa métropole !

The "lack of experience" for Katie is a red herring. She's had a bigger impact on policy and a more positive one the lives of everyday people than all of the Seattle City Council. None of which held elected office before taking their jobs as co-equal leaders of the city.

Fuck, Seattle. I'm so proud of you and so excited for you. Seattle doesn't just get a socialist (!!) or an organizer mayor, but importantly, you get a thoughtful leader who will listen & who will collaborate with you. This is your city. Go, be part of making it better.

Congratulations to Mayor-Elect Katie Wilson. Someone so humble, dedicated, and truly influential. Congratulations to the people of Seattle. You deserve an Executive that cares about each and every one of you, and you've now got one. I'm so happy for you.

Sorry to anyone that put any ounce of trust in the legislative ability of Sara Nelson. There's a reason that other legislators didn't go there. Trust me, there was plenty of work on the staff level to see if this could work. It just doesn't. Namely, b/c this area is a pollution corridor.
JUST IN: Washington's Growth Management Hearings Board has invalidated the Seattle City Council's ordinance legalizing housing in a small slice of SoDo near the sports stadiums, siding with the Port of Seattle in its appeal against the move.

Seattle could have a lefty mayor for the first time in 15 years. Still about half of Seattle voted for a neolib. This shows that we need to keep building. Do lead with hope. Keep creating programs & services to help people. Crush the remaining narrative that leftists are just big meanies.
November 11, 2025 at 9:49 AM
Katie's such a hard worker and an organizer who works so well with so many people. She's down to earth. She'll fight tooth and nail for you. She deserves this lead. Seattle is gonna get a lefty organizer executive. Congratulations. Seriously.

10pn CET Sounders match. It's so rare. Yay. Please let the season continue after tonight. 🤞🙏

Glad me, my wife, and our Seattle friends based in Europe voted for Katie. That's at least 6 votes right there. Almost 1/3 of that potentially winning margin. 😄🥳
This is incredible. King County elections is now saying they have 45,000 ballots left to count. If Wilson gets exactly the same margin of those as she got today she'll take the lead by... 20 votes!
Katie Wilson made big gains on Bruce Harrell in today's vote count. The count probably makes her the slight favorite at this point, but no one's declaring or conceding anything. www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news...

If we can learn 1 thing from this election it's that Sara Nelson's "endorsements" in the last one meant jack shit. She just supported the conservative candidates who happened to win & she wasted City time to go campaign for them. I felt that way then & can confirm it now. Seattle does not like Sara.

II wish I could explain this process to French people in a way that they understand how incredibly complex voting is even for municipal elections in the US. That 55% is high voter turnout is even hard to explain. Then layer in party politics, what city halls do, etc. It's such a different beast.
New turnout numbers in Seattle suggest that only about half the ballots are in, with nearly 55 percent of voters in the city casting ballots. Two thirds of those are drop box votes (rather than mail-in), and the numbers now suggest that only about half the ballots have been counted.

*If*, in the end, Seattle can't yet finally brush Bruce into the dustbin of history, don't get discouraged. Keep organizing. Council elections are next. Replace this embarrassing Council. Start building now. Start meeting, forming coalitions, creating shared platforms. No matter what, that's next.

Okay, I just learned that the city of Kanazawa, Japan repairs used bikes and sells them to residents for as low as $20. What a brilliant program. This needs to be replicated everywhere.

Win or lose, the people in this room represent a new organizing-based movement for Seattle, rooted in hope & positivity. Keep the momentum & keep building.
Huge turnout for Katie Wilson's election night party in Beacon Hill. She's the frontrunner hoping to take down incumbent Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell.

Sara Nelson's time as Council President was a true stain on the legislative department in Seattle. Her leadership fostered toxicity, led to Seattle losing many very good legislative staff + a great legislator, & coincided with a stagnation of Council generated legislation. Bye bye One-Term CM Nelson

There was a bus driver for the 10 in Seattle back around 2008/09 who used to have a saying for every stop. The only one I remember is "3rd & Pine. Rain or shine, don't forget your umbrella." I wish I remembered more. That dude being his real self every morning was a real joy.
November 3, 2025 at 7:17 AM
It's a flat out lie for the mayor to say he manages more than his deputies & department heads. That's low double digits.
I think Katie Wilson should flip the script here. The real question for both candidates is "how many employees have you *mismanaged*?"

For Wilson, at worst, it's "a couple".

Not so for Harrell....

The fascist régime in control of the US is criminalizing *potential* political opponents & political dissidents. They have no regard for the rule of law & will continue to pursue those they've labelled as enemies more and more and more.

You guys, you can support your boss's reelection. Been there myself. Just do it on your own time, not on City time. If you want to do something during business hours, take the day off. This isn't rocket science. It's really hard to actually break ethics rules, guys & somehow you make it look easy.
Folks, I feel a fourth elections ethics violation complaint coming on. Is there any elections law the Bruce Harrell administration won’t break?

Toute politique est d’abord locale. Toujours, partout. Connaissez-vous vos élus locaux ? Votre maire, vos conseillers municipaux et métropolitains ?

C’est important pour vous de le savoir, pour agir et participer à la vie civique, et c’est important pour eux d’être tenus responsables.

Bruce Harrell is a career lawyer married to a longtime Microsoft exec who lives on Lake Washington Boulevard & owns a pied à terre (first home, really) in Bellevue. The dude is out of touch.
Bruce Harrell's latest campaign email says "Katie Wilson Is Not Who She Says She Is." His evidence: An interview with KUOW in which Wilson—ahem—SAID she and her husband help with child care from her parents.
