The EIU should move the US to a hybrid regime in the upcoming report.
(I suspect that they won't, however.)
There's been inertia against significant downward change for the US evident for years.
But if they don't at least move it to the lower half of flawed democracy, then it's a useless report.

I used to joke about moving the US from Flawed Democracy to Hybrid Regime.
I would be 0% joking now. You'd have to apply exceptions or ignore their definitions of the scoring points to avoid it.

The US moved from Full Democracy to Flawed Democracy in the 2016 ratings from The Economist Democracy Index. That change was a long time coming and should have been made sooner.
