Black historian doing Black historian stuff. Views and opinions only belong to me and the voices inside my head.
I’ve been saying this for weeks now, but you cannot convince me that CNN isn’t working with Marjorie Taylor Greene to rehabilitate her image as a crazy far-right extremist.
CNN: In the last couple of weeks or so, she's become kind of an ally on some issues. What do you make of this?

Auchincloss: No, John, she hasn't.

Watched the first episode of Ken Burns’s American Revolution. And I’m happy to report I was not at all incorrect.

Just a tired retelling of a story based in American exception that drags on for two long hours, setting up for what Burns actually wants to talk about: The Revolutionary War.
November 18, 2025 at 3:09 AM
My hot take on Ken Burns’s American Revolution is whenever I get around to hate-watching it I’ll just be proved correct that it sucks.

I imagine it’s just a watered down war narrative with a sprinkling of non-military history based mostly on a historiography older than me.

I’m not saying we live in the dumbest timeline, but we have to be up there on the list.
Bessent on tariffs: "This is one of President Trump's signature policies, and traditionally the Supreme Court does not interfere with a president's signature policy."

I’m telling y’all, CNN and MTG are working together to launch a new look for her.

These people are trying to sanitize the Jewish space lasers lady who gleefully harassed school shooting survivors, and it’s absolutely crazy.
BASH: We have seen these attacks from the president at other people. It's not new. And I haven't heard you speak out about it until it was directed at you.

MARJORIE TAYLOR GREENE: I think that's fair criticism. And I would like to say, humbly, I'm sorry for taking part in the toxic politics.

It’s truly wild that Jill Lapore feels quite comfortable just plainly saying rapists and abusers are being unjustly persecuted.

“Analogies are dangerous.” Then why are you making such idiotic and dangerous ones?

Can’t wait for her eventual think piece defending Epstein.
More grossness. How can someone still say in 2025 that #MeToo was kind of like driving gay men out of the workplace, and she was being 'courageous' by 'standing up'?

It's evident now that rapists were being celebrated and cozied up to (& AT Harvard!!!) in the era she is discussing...

JD Vance: "A lot of young people are saying housing is way too expensive. Why is that? Because we flooded the country with 30 million illegal immigrants who were taking houses that ought by right go to American citizens."

Yeah I’m still going to dunk on her.

Sorry, not sorry.
Everyone is dunking on Kim Kardashian. The truth is the California bar is notoriously hard, the pass rate was only 55%, the pass rate for people who didn‘t go to an accredited law school is way lower, and lots of very smart and dedicated people don’t pass the first time and become good lawyers.
Kim Kardashian slams psychics who told her she'd pass the bar exam: 'All fucking full of shit'

After Tuesday’s results Democratic leadership had to scramble to remind America why we should have zero faith in the party.
November 10, 2025 at 3:24 AM
My crackpot theory is that centrist Dems are doing this as a giant middle finger in response to Mamdani getting elected.

Throwing in the towel and punishing the entire country because they didn’t get their way and are slowly losing power within the party.
Politico says the cavers have won. CR in exchange for fake vote on ACA subsidies in December. Politico at least says other Dems will give them cover. We’ll see. www.politico.com/news/2025/11...

I actually really support this.

If Andrew Cuomo runs, it will inevitably end with an upstart progressive candidate actually get the position.
November 8, 2025 at 7:10 PM
Hearing Ted Cruz talk about the law relating to presidential eligibility is actually hilarious.
Ted Cruz: "I think right now the 2 frontrunners for the Democratic nomination in 2028 are AOC and Mamdani. Now, he's not even eligible, but what do they care? Law doesn't mean anything to them. That's where their party is."
November 6, 2025 at 9:58 PM
Between this and her sit down with Wolf Blitzer I’m convinced CNN is trying to soft launch a new version of Marjorie Taylor Greene as a future political correspondent.
Greene: "I will praise Nancy Pelosi. She had an incredible career for her party. I served under her speakership in my first term in Congress and I'm very impressed at her ability to get things done. I wish we could get things done for our party like Nancy Pelosi was able to deliver for her party."

November 5, 2025 at 12:39 AM
Honestly, it’s Schumer being too much of a coward to just say he voted for Cuomo that is most infuriating.
Q: It's election day in NYC. Did you vote for Mamdani or Cuomo?

Schumer: "Look, I voted, and I look forward to working with the next mayor to help NYC."
November 5, 2025 at 12:29 AM
Only one Republican president has won the popular vote in a generation. Conservatives can only hold majorities in many places through gerrymandering and disenfranchisement. And they are currently trying to create an American monarchy just to stay in power.

But sure, Democrats are the minority 🤷🏽‍♂️
I guess here on Bluesky it's controversial to note that the Democrats, once the majority across this country, were reduced to national minority (in stages, from 1968, to 1980, to 2016) by moving left.
But if you'd rather think I'm just making Trump's point...well, whatever helps you cope.
I'm questioning this statement, "the left started to lose the public (who to this day don't see Reagan the same way they do.)"
Who is this *public* you speak of? Wouldn't the left be a subset of it?
This feels like the current Trump regime's feelings that Democrats aren't real Americans.
November 1, 2025 at 10:36 PM
This isn’t necessarily related, but I don’t pass up opportunities to hate on Jill Laporte.

She was just on with Hasan Minhaj, and said that Bruce Wayne would vote Republican. And honestly that level of disconnect feels like it should be recognized.
Thinking about the Jill Lepore “students got difficult in 2016” thing: there’s a point for all of us when “youth opinion,” such as it is, no longer feels intuitive. It happened for me in the last few years. To understand where they’re coming from, you might have to do a little research.

Just commit to the bit, and drink the blood dude. You already look like a vampire.
I love how some people think it is so implausible that all the major political donors from both parties are child rapists when there are headlines like this in major news outlets and no one bats an eye.

It’s legitimately crazy Democrats are not slam dunking on this children’s height hoop right now.

Everything is more expensive and we are into the second longest government shutdown ever. And, by his own words, Trump’s main focus is a crappy ballroom that is almost certainly just a scam.
The Fred Trump treatment. Give him a fake job while Miller draws up missile strike plans on fishermen.
