I think Virgil has nailed it. Having cosmically screwed the French, there's absolutely no heart to screw AUKUS as well.

How is 2 guys shooting up a crowd in Bondi & killing 15 people more terrorism than an aggrieved white guy tossing an IED into a crowd of people protesting peacefully?
If Bondi was a terrorist act then so was this, it is fortunate the outcome was not as tragic.
