I love how National R’s are learning the lesson and name of Senator Louise Lucas that Youngkin learned over the course of his term.

I kinda think that anyone who has “gerontocracy Dems bad” arguments needs to wrestle with the spectacular legislative effectiveness of Lucas.

In 2025 I saw this Admin would try to do all courts what corporate dictators (Trumps actual natural condition afflicted with CEO brain) have successfully done to worker rights under Natl Labor Relations Act: bludgeon practice into their vision thru endless cases for delay deny appeal & forum shop
“Late Friday night, the Fifth Circuit adopted the extreme minority view—that the government can indefinitely detain without bond millions of non-citizens who have been here for generations; who have never committed a crime; and who pose neither a risk of flight nor any threat to public safety.”
208. The Fifth Circuit Jumps the Immigration Detention Shark
Late Friday, two of the nation's most right-wing circuit judges adopted an odious legal claim that district court judges from across the country (and ideological spectrum) have overwhelmingly rejected

No joke: I got angry hate mail today for writing an obituary of a Black woman scientist—because the person felt she did didn’t deserve the recognition.

It never caught me but for many years the worst employers tested federal courts by pursuing Civil RICO against unionization drives. Smithfield Sysco Cintas & other shitty companies. Most cases thrown out; obvious first amendment activities are not predicate acts of conspiracy. Judges saw thru the bs
Felony conspiracy charges can be used as a tool to quash protest, says one legal scholar. “Conspiracy directly targets collective action. In some ways, it is easier to convict someone of conspiracy to commit a crime than the underlying crime itself.”
In Bay Area, Felony Charges Against Student Protesters Prompt Free Speech Concerns
Local prosecutors are seeking felony-level charges against pro-Palestine demonstrators. Even if they don’t stick, critics say the response is harsh and could chill protests.

This chart seems to suggest a striking pattern: Kevin Warsh's speeches are consistently hawkish, except when Trump is President and about to appoint a new Fed Chair.

This means that the state police (and some other agencies) will no longer be empowered to detain and arrest people for ICE.

Big, big move by the governor within weeks of coming into office.
