This is the perfect resource for #historyteacher s who are keen to maintain disciplinary authenticity when asked to implement whole school policy and approaches. I hope it leads many #historyteachers to understand the importance of engaging with the wider community! 3/3

@catherinepriggs.bsky.social @davidjhibbert.bsky.social @egcarr.bsky.social @hughrichards.bsky.social have done a super job of exploring history-specific practice and integrating this with the more generalised instructional coaching toolkit/ teaching techniques approach of the walk thrus series. 2/

Many of us involved in #historyteacher #TeacherEducation have been keen to see subject, & distinctive nature of our discipline, re-centred in the recent focus on instructional coaching & core-practices in schools. It was brilliant, therefore, to read 'Secondary History in Action'. 1/

In the first webinar, @jacobolivey.bsky.social and I will explain why we think children don't need to 'do history' to learn history.

Reflecting on an excellent #HAConf25 as I return to school! I always struggle to look to the future at this time of year and feel I have run out of ideas. I left the conference energised and excited again. A brilliant location too!

“A balance of skills and knowledge” is no more meaningful a statement today than it was a decade ago - let’s avoid falling into the same tired cliches. We have better ways now for talking about curriculum design (although still a long way to go).
One of our most popular posts is just over a year old - on the perennial debate between skills & knowledge and what we've learnt over the past 14 years.

This is incredibly helpful (particularly as someone transitioning from subject leadership to school leadership). Thanks Cat!
⏰New blog post: We need to talk about… the dos and don’ts of leading teaching and learning school-wide⏰

Leading teaching and learning at a senior level comes with unique challenges. How do you balance whole-school priorities with the individual needs of each subject?
