Gain time is not just about curriculum development.

This is a fascinating read and certainly gives a lot of food for thought.

It comes at the perfect time, as we plan for Yr7-8 and consider the implications for GCSE and A-Level.

I’ve become a staff governor and attended my first meeting today.

Absolute game changer. I feel as if I know my school better from those two hours than the last seven years.

In the space of four months my mum has gone from being diagnosed with breast cancer to being told she is cancer free and given a schedule for precautionary treatment.

I bloody love the NHS.

On the anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic, we thought we'd answer a question that's often asked,

"If they raised the Mary Rose, why not raise the Titanic?"

Told a student today that if they send me their essay, I can get it marked for tomorrow.

Their response - “Remember Miss, you’re a teacher second.”

When I tell you that hit me hard.

I do love it here but ‘the other place’ has far more darts content.

I need my comedy gold commentary and throwbacks to Eric Bristow.

Anyone?

Botton line about the Biden pardon, and this doesn't make it good politics in the context of upholding rule-of-law or moral high-ground against Trumpism, but I just don't think I know a parent who wouldn't do it if they had the power.

INSET day tomorrow and it seems that the previously booked speaker has been cancelled.

Instead, we have a day to discuss, plan and collaborate - couldn’t be happier.

Sometimes new ideas are good but sometimes the chance to embed ideas is even better.

For the past two weeks, on a Thursday P3 I have supported with pastoral on call.

As a HoD it has really made me understand how much goes on when tucked away in the classroom.

Pastoral staff remain the backbone of a school 👏🏻

NPQ assignment submitted ✅

My initial conclusions:

1. It has reassured me as a HoD
2. I feel more confident as a HoD
3. I feel more confident as a teacher
4. I sympathise with students when I say “there’s no right or wrong answer” - this assignment was brutal for that very reason!

If teacher expertise is the strongest determinant of student achievement, then how we think about expertise really matters.
