Oh, UVa, what were you thinking sending me three bills (because our dental insurance only covers one fluoride treatment per year per kid) and also sending us a letter requesting an end of year gift?

Consider the $135 for fluoride my end of year gift. I think we’re even.

A lot of what we recommend at LRPAC is modernizing schools, including fixing airflow as pointed out by @waldo.net. It can be expensive but if addressed regularly across all schools, it can improve student and employee performance.
Half of U.S. schools need to replace HVAC or plumbing systems. Most were built after WWII. Districts have cut renovation spending by $85 billion yearly since 2016. Yet research shows modernized schools optimize student and teacher performance. https://bit.ly/3MbPXsv

I'll probably have to bring this up at my next confession, but dropping a 14-minute homily at a:

1. Noon Mass, for a
2. Holy Day of Obligation, when
3: It's snowing and conditions are getting worse

is something that shouldn't have happened.

Having ventured out today, I'm going to give credit to the School Divisions locally for making the call early. The roads are getting nasty and I don't see them getting better in the next couple of hours when the buses would have been on the roads.

It’s not too late, Penn State.
Don’t hesitate. I am your fate.
While I am not interested in being Penn State's football coach, I am willing to entertain offers from Penn State to be their former head coach, fired without cause.

PSU can contact my agent to negotiate my buyout terms. I'm sure both parties are ready for this sordid ordeal to come to an end

Local scouts were able to offer the same prices as last year on 90% of our trees. They’re moving fast if you’re interested in getting one.

I'm hearing that ACPS has already made the call for a 2-hour delay tomorrow.
Parents, start making plans for a delayed school opening on Tuesday…
I'm keeping an eye on Tuesday morning as our next low-pressure system could bring some sleet/freezing rain before sunrise (read: slick roads for the AM commute). Temperatures will warm to change everything to rain by mid-morning.

Friday night into Saturday morning will also be worth watching...

Pertinent for the greater Charlottesville area:
From Alaska to Maine, winter weather watches, warnings, and advisories are in effect today (December 1) across over 20 states due to ongoing or expected snow/ice. Make sure you're taking time to ready yourself for winter driving!

@scoutingamerica.bsky.social is a profound good for my family. I have watched my children grow in leadership, in service, in care for their community and for the natural world. Military families that move around have a built-in activity for kids when Scouting exists on bases. 1/5

It's incredibly beautiful, but I remembered what I heard @neildegrassetyson.com say just last week about Red Bull and the lens on the adventure camera and how it's shot for effect sometimes.
This is absolutely. batshit. insane.

And one of the most beautifully terrifying things I've ever watched.

With all the jerseys his Holiness has received and now the beer, the Vatican's game-watching space is starting to come together.
Catholics believe in holy water. How about holy beer? Pope Leo received a special gift on Wednesday from Illinois Governor JB Pritzker, a four-pack of American mild ale from a Chicago brewery. For @reuters.com:

A hazard of taking three boys (13, 11, & 9) to the @neildegrassetyson.com talk at JPJ last night: letting them sleep in and driving them to school instead of taking the bus. Dr. Tyson, can you write them a “doctor’s note” in case we’re late?
