For weeks, I've been wondering why it's so hard to work. I love the work I do. It's the mental drag of the state of the world. The dread. The worry. It's all a lot. I'm going to give myself a break, and you should give yourself one, too. Things are weird, and it's logical to be struggling.

I want to do a family feud style thing. Please reply with the first Greek God that you think of.

Please reskeet for increased sample size.

Tennessee! This is the third time I’ve been able to see it in a photo. It’s amazing. Like magic.

So, with the government opening, do people get their SNAP benefits for November?

Still making dishcloths. I like this one.

My #FreelanceFriends question for today is about finding in-person conferences and forums to attend. I'm finding search to be not great. So far, reading industry publications to look for ads has been the best, but that's not efficient. Ideas? #FreelanceFriends

Went to a neighborhood meeting. I still think doing in person stuff is how we get things going in the right direction.

So, if the Cracker Barrel logo mess was driven by bots, whose bots were they? Who benefitted from that “controversy”? www.nrn.com/casual-dinin...

It's been a good chat today #FreelanceFriends. I've got to go a little early, but I'm glad I remembered today :) Hope all the Canadians get to celebrate the Blue Jays tomorrow!

Word nerd friends, this is super cool.
Before AI, we linguists used large scale corpora to study relationships between words and all sorts of other things. Some of them are at risk of going down because of reduced interest, including the most used (COCA), so I bought it. I also added five of old and middle English.

Alpha test, fiddling

I listened to a podcast about the bog bodies in Northern Europe and got curious about North American bogs. Then I read about pocosins, which are a type of bog in the mountains of North Carolina where black bears thrive. It’s fun to go down rabbit holes. Also bogs are cool.

As the 14th inning started I said “I haven’t checked bsky in awhile…” then did and laughed a lot. Thanks y’all.

I talked to my dad today. He didn’t know about SNAP being suspended. He only gets around $40 a month, and wasn’t terribly worried. He won’t be hungry, but it’s so awful he won’t get even that tiny bit of help. I was glad to talk to him though.

These leaves are pretty wonderful.

It's gray and chilly outside, my partner is off work, and everything online feels (is) very heavy today. I don't want to work, but I really need to. Because money is useful, and some of my people need help right now. So, I'm turning on a timer. 30 minutes, head down, fingers moving.

A friend asked if I could embroider some stockings for her. She had 2 for her kids who are both married with their own kids now. This is the last on, with one letter left. I’ve done Kacey, Briggs, Tom, and Hendricks. It’s been a fun learning experience.

I read the comments on local news stories about national events. Now I’m sad. (I know better. Why did I do that?)

Lots of good costumes and signs today but one of my favorite things was this group of ladies dancing. They had a routine for We Will Rock You and several other songs. They were having fun!

My brain is uncooperative today, and my partner deemed me grumpy at lunch (correctly), but there's (paying) work to do. So, I'm setting a timer to see how much gets done in a half hour.

Today has included singing, Halloween crafts, many snacks, pajamas, and Hotel Transylvania. Still to come: pumpkin carving.
