Meh. I'm still not offloading my creativity and abstract thought to baked silicon wafers loaded with plagiarized data.
I really don’t find these arguments persuasive. Take this, for example, from one of the sources: this is another way of saying ‘as much water as it takes for the beef that two people consume annually’. That’s a relatively trivial amount!

Old enough to remember when coding mostly involved writing code. Oh well. Back to banging my head against GutHub.

Been a pretty decent birthday this year. Woke up to the death of a monster and rolled into some pretty cool electoral victories. Oh, and I also had surf n' turf. Now if my home state can get prop 50 over the finish line...

They must have called up Dennis for Dick Cheney.
What a nice way to start one's birthday.

My first memory of anything political was watching a clip of then-president Reagan talking about "Welfare queens" and realizing he was talking about people like me and my mom. I was too young to clock the barely abstracted racism; all I saw was my president calling us leeches. Things never change.

Maybe it's the fact that coding involves less and less actual coding and more and more pointless busywork, or maybe it's just the burnout talking, but a growing part of me wishes I'd pursued an art career a little harder.

Chatbots — LLMs — do not know facts and are not designed to be able to accurately answer factual questions. They are designed to find and mimic patterns of words, probabilistically. When they’re “right” it’s because correct things are often written down, so those patterns are frequent. That’s all.

Appealing to people less than half my age isn't even close to being a consideration, let alone a fear.
I cannot tell you how much I wish that this was even one of my ten greatest fears.

Well...that was one of the best movies I've seen. Just gorgeous and haunting and grotesque all at the same time, like a florid tapestry has been animated. Go see it on a giant screen if you can.
Drawn 8 years ago today. Fitting that it should pop up the day we're going to see Guillermo Del Toro's Frankenstein in the theater.

Can't speak for other artists but listening to Guillermo Del Toro talk about his passions is a surefire way to push past a creative block. A generational inspiration and a generational talent.
This from @realgdt.bsky.social talking about 'Frankenstein' is so good.

Here's one for #Arachtober. My wife recorded a pair of phidippus audax jumping spiders mating in our food waste bucket. Quite the romantic setting, except for that fly staring at them...sicko.
