As far as I can tell the only real obstacle to people living peacefully together are the people who say that people can't live peacefully together.

They don’t care if you have proof of citizenship. I thought everyone knew that at this point. Legit US VETERANS have been kidnapped by ICE.
NOEM IS LYING. I have seen people get taken! It was the same each time: armed men racing out of a blacked-out SUV, seizing a screaming or fleeing pedestrian, and pulling them into the car without any attempt to even learn their identity. Always a person alone on the street. Always a person of color.

I was telling one of my kids that it was physically impossible for an ad to play between songs on any of the records I own, and they asked "and you only have to pay for it once?" and you could see how strange that seemed. You cannot overstate how many basic rules of media consumption have changed.

ICE has kidnapped so many people from their cars that the city had to put out this statement. Let that sink in.
Vehicles that are abandoned due to an ICE detention and towed to the City's impound lot will be released to their owners or a representative at no cost.

Two days ago it was Elissa Slotkin. Last week it was Jerome Powell. Before that, Mark Kelly. Weaponizing the justice system against your opponents is an authoritarian tactic.

The only person not being investigated for the shooting of Renee Good is the federal agent who shot her.
Breaking news: The Justice Department has issued subpoenas for Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey as part of an investigation alleging that they are impeding federal law enforcement officers’ abilities to do their jobs in the state.

I was talking about this my wife, who has an extra empathic personality. I told her that nothing would change if she ignored the news for a week, as long as she didn't pretend it wasn't happening. And we agreed to still do what we could, which is donate to orgs doing the work and call reps.
I'm gonna say this with all the kindness in my heart: you aren't going to survive if you don't let your life have room for other things.

This is not a short term fight where we can just go 24/7 and then it will be over. We've got YEARS ahead of us. Take a break. Hydrate. Go bake something. Breathe.

Do you like speculative fiction? Short story collections that are very intentionally ordered? Stories about memories? Ghosts? Friendship? Monsters? Pie? Whales? Basketball?

If so, this might be the book for you!

And apparently conservatives used to be outraged by this photo/raid. Some have now changed their perspective and are on board with ice 🤡
This picture was taken in 2000 by an Associated Press photographer who was allowed to be present as an observer. ICE now keeps press blocks away from the areas where they are operating. One of the first actions ICE takes during a raid is to confiscate phones.
