In some ways Johnson feels worse than even Trump and Vance, who are just a narcissistic criminal and a narcissistic striver, respectively. They may be awful people but they still feel human. Johnson feels like a walking representation of the uncanny valley, like a ski suit being operated by ants.

Agreed. Jewish folks are about 2.4% of the population of the US, there are many millions (hundreds of millions?) of people who have not met, or don't know they have met, a single Jewish person in their lives, and don't ever think about them, but live in very red areas.
I do think a lot of people are underestimating the risks of the GOP civil war. I remember thinking in 2015/16 that Trump moving the the GOP further to the right was going to make it easier for Dems to win, and boy was I wrong there. The Outright Antisemitism wing beating MAGA could be Real Bad.
