“Blimey this Urge to Love is hot stuff. We’ll never be able to show this. Get Mervyn to edit the vanilla bits into the previous episode and junk this. But run me off a copy first.”
“No-one will want to rewatch this stuff. Junk the lot of it.”

Thought about doing something to celebrate Dr Who day but didn’t bother myself so here are some photos to prove I am in fact a “Whovian”

Looking at the ratings for Doctor Who’s 20th Century BBC repeats and amused to see that (excluding the impact of ITV strikes) Pyramids of Mars is both the highest (13.7) and lowest (1.0) watched story of the classic run.

“Mum can we have beans for dinner?”
“You’ll have to ask your father. I’ve told you; I’m not cooking.”

New mix of #TheBeatles Real Love dropped today. My first impression of the 2025 mix is it brings out the clarity of John’s vocal at the expense of the 1996 additions (which are what makes it a Beatles song, imo). I’d have liked more of both to be honest!

Looks like The Horns of Nimon, sounds like Resurrection of the Daleks. What a combination.

I remember Eddie Robson used to make the old guard of fans weep into their Yak Butter Sandwiches when he proudly declared his first memory of Doctor Who was Pertwee… in The Five Doctors.
OTD 1981: The Five Faces of #DoctorWho – Carnival of Monsters
The first Third Doctor I saw on TV is the most un-Pertwee of Pertwees and a fantastic repeat choice!
Clever
Funny
Great monsters
Brilliantly entertaining:

Blake’s 7: Shadow. Very beige. Shouldn’t they be fighting the Federation instead of playing with some shiny rocks? Do your shirt up Blake.

The idea that every Play for Today was a radical classic is very “the memory cheats”. There were hundreds of them. The BBC has probably junked more than Channel 5 will ever make.
