It's quite possible that the Gospel of Mark was in fact written around 40 A.D. The anchor point here would be the Caligula Crisis, and how it relates to Mark 13.

I'm currently reading The Case for Christ, and Strobel makes a fundamental mistake right off that bat. He thinks he can examine the story of Jesus through the lens of a court room. History is not a court room, and can't be treated as such. He starts with a faulty premise.
