cancel culture is when you publish a bestselling book that gets excerpted in major newspapers and magazines and reviewed in others. many people do not like the book, but don’t be fooled: this is not evidence of diversity of opinion. true expressive freedom means never having to say you’re sorry
In this version of cancel culture, a professor is FORCED to finish his career at Harvard in relative peace: "It took a few years, but the furor around The Unheavenly City did subside. Banfield made his way back to Harvard in 1975 and finished his career there in relative peace."
Cancel Culture Goes Back At Least 50 Years
Edward C. Banfield questioned liberal claims about cities’ problems. Leftists and elites drove him from his academic perch.

People are complaining about this but this is exactly why our Founders gave the President the power of the purse
Trump: "I'm delighted to announce this afternoon that the US will be taking a small portion of the hundreds of billions of dollars we receive in tariffs ... and we're going to be giving and providing it to the farmers in economic assistance. We love our farmers. The farmers like me ... $12 billion"

During ratification of the 14th Amendment, senators discussed whether the Citizenship Clause would apply to the children of immigrants and resoundingly concluded that it did. The text and history all point in one direction and the counter-arguments are patently fraudulent. I am going to lose my mind
The evidence is the text. All you have to do is read the Constitution.

The thing is, feminists have long had fluent, evidence-backed arguments showing that breaking free of essentialised gender roles benefits everyone, including men and boys who may be feeling isolated.

But we live in societies structured on ignoring women, so instead we hear from these guys...
If this is the alternative to the manosphere, we are in trouble.

A remarkable report that doesn’t deadname the person. Good on NPR.

Far more dignified than the Supreme Court, which suggested last month that targeting transgender people by pointing out their past “is merely attesting to historical fact without subjecting anyone to differential treatment.“

It's become normal now for high-level political figures to argue that an entire generation was brainwashed through fake videos into mass anti-Israel political mobilization by TikTok. Complete conspiracy thinking, rooted in zero evidence, based on nothing
Hillary Clinton blames TikTok and “totally made up” videos for young people’s views on Israel and Palestine.

She says social media influenced “not just the usual suspects” but also “young Jewish Americans who don’t know the history and don’t understand.”
