So let me get this straight: masks are bad and un-American if worn to fight a pandemic, but good if worn by people claiming to be government agents when they kidnap people off the street

Happy May 1st. The value of your labor belongs to you and the actions of the state are best understood as as a coordinated effort to distract you from this. The state fears an organized and unified proletariat like it fears death and rightly so. Power to the workers and power to the people

Do you know how much CEO pay has skyrocketed since 1978?

100%? 500%?

Try 1,085%

Meanwhile, the $7.25/hr fed. minimum wage hasn't budged in 15 years and the tipped min. wage has been $2.13/hr since 1991.

This is what I mean when I say the system is rigged.

I don’t think I ever cried during the first episode of survivor until this moment
This scene absolutely wrecked me. Eva coming to Joe in such a vulnerable state. And him not only reciprocating, but vowing that he is with her to the end #Survivor48

Finally.

A major media outlet has finally reported on Trump’s total travel ban for transgender visa applicants seeking the United States.

I had to scream for two days to get someone else to report on it.

It is NOT just for athletes.

State Department visa policy could bar trans people from traveling to U.S.
Violations could result in travel bans beyond just athletes

1. Did you know that Girl Scouts has, for a long time, accepted trans girls and nonbinary scouts?

Trans kids are under attack. Every year, I make a thread of trans and nonbinary girl scouts you can get your cookies from.

Lets get our cookies from them this year in solidarity!

This year, consider ordering your Girl Scout cookies from a trans girl scout to make their day!

Outside of the immediate institutional impacts, $900M dollars also vanished overnight that would otherwise go into local economies and payroll.

Do we imagine losing nearly one billion dollars worth of canceled contracts also won't have negative downstream macroeconomic effects?
Hearing that DOGE went into the Dept of Education today and shut down almost the entirety of the department's in-house research arm, Institute of Educational Sciences, cancelling contracts totally about $900m.

This just keeps getting scarier and more bizarre. This is literally a coup!
Is this the announcement that they have shut down the Department of Education?

Just in case you thought that removing DEI criteria would mean that everyone is competing equally: NIH is removing grad students from underrepresented backgrounds from the applicant pool altogether. Their applications will not be considered. Other students, not from these backgrounds, will be.

More data supporting the idea that money alone does not create happiness.

Investment in social security, our communities, and equitable access to prosperity needs to be at least as important as the economy if we want to be happier as a nation.

There is something nefarious about how hard and fast people are pushing AI in education.

I’m not a conspiracy theorist, but it doesn’t bode well when corporations, not student need, set the pace with which we adopt new technologies.
