The city's delays in plowing sidewalks (while staying on top of road clearing) is annoying; private contractors blocking sidewalks is adding insult to injury. #halifax

My serious and well-researched Children's Rights article is catching up on my slightly tongue-in-cheek (but factually accurate) porn article. Meanwhile, no one cares about my most thorough and most significant paper, the main focus of my research. Still, happy to be cited anywhere for anything.

I assumed this headline referred to the USA, but it's actually Iran. An easy mistake to make.

Scotia Square is either unusually quiet today or the free space information is not precise.

The older I get, the more faith I have in older faiths and observances such as solstice. This is St Lythans burial chamber, built 1,500 years before Stonehenge (and not yet excavated). When I visited, a recent previous visitor had left an offering. As I left, two visitors arrived and sang there.

I'm used to Halifax having more litter on the streets than any city I visit, but this abandoned piano board still stands out...how did it get here? And how many weeks will it linger? (one, so far).

After decades in Cape Breton NS, my parents are not missing the winters.

I find it really odd that Vancouver has two places (which I know of) where you can buy seafood off the boat from the people who caught it, and Halifax, which has the fishing community reputation and image, has nothing like this.

An impossibly sexy mid-1960s Pontiac Laurentian wagon. Never sold in the USA, it used a slightly smaller Chevy frame and mechanicals, with a body similar to the American Pontiac Catalina.

My flight departure is delayed, but I'm prepared. Not that I fly places in order to enjoy the reading time.

Heading out to visit parents. Mum let it be known she'd prefer I didn't have brightly coloured nails. No problem mum - just plain black (with a few little gold sparkles).

For years, these waterfront parking garages and the Casino were partly hidden behind a hill. Now, thanks to the Cogswell project, they can be admired from blocks away.

Told mum I was eating more mushrooms. She found some on a walk, but suggested I'd be happier not trying them. I agree.

Once upon a time, I lived in this building. Six three-bedroom units on a double residential lot, in an area of single family homes. Great way to increase density - and everyone had a front and back door, thanks to two sets of stairs. Why aren't we building more of these?
