Among many themes, IMO this was Mamdani's most important national narrative win. He's a mayor who loves his city.
The era of city leaders swept to power in a wave of resentment was awful. It's a self reinforcing doom cycle. A city has serious problems and then elects people who sh*t on the city.

There were a couple themes of the 2024 election but one was a declaration of war on American cities by American rural/exurban voters
