Minneapolis Proved Something MAGA Can’t Accept: Most People Are Actually Virtuous
There's a line buried in Adam Serwer's recent Atlantic piece on the Minneapolis resistance to ICE that deserves to be pulled out, examined, and posted on every lamppost in America: The secret fear of the morally depraved is that virtue is actually common, and that they’re the ones who are alone. Read that again. It explains so much. Serwer continues:

Just to give a sense of scale for how many people are out here in the snow and cold, this is just the outer fringe of one half of a block of Congress Plaza, which is completely full.

For @msnownews.bsky.social, I wrote an article about how ICE Watch is grounded in sociological theories of violence prevention.

The reality is that most men will only commit public violence in extremely specific scenarios and ICE Watch disrupts the conditions necessary for escalation.
Opinion | I'm a Minneapolis sociologist who studies violence. Here's how ICE observers are helping.
Research into how violence occurs shows that disapproval from the people around you can help reduce it.

I’m seeing lots of people on here misunderstand the purpose of ICE watch.

It’s de-escalation. And it’s grounded in the social science of violence. 🧵

Since 20 June 2025, consumers are now able to benefit from smartphones and tablets that are both longer-lasting and more easily repairable thanks to new rules. It also makes it much easier to choose more durable phones, thanks to a new energy label with repairability and reliability score.
Here's how longer-lasting smartphones will soon become a reality
New EU rules mean longer-lasting smartphones and tablets will soon become a reality as well as being more easily repairable.

Well, well, well. It turns out more voters blame fossil fuels than renewable energy for high electricity prices—and the most voters, correctly, blame utilities.

So if they promote more fossil fuels to lower costs, @mattyglesias.bsky.social, Dems will fail to campaign on voters' *actual* positions.

I have seen multiple ICE vehicles at an MPD precinct in my neighborhood and around town literally today. They’re openly patrolling solo and alongside MPD.
The @washingtonpost.com's Emma Uber & @teoarmus.bsky.social caught @mayorbowser.dc.gov in a bald-faced lie. On Tuesday, she said "ICE is not patrolling with MPD." Confronted that day with video of ICE patrolling with MPD and abducting people handed to them by MPD, she was forced to change her tune.

🌍🚨 We cannot solve the climate crisis without demand-side solutions!

The @ipcc.bsky.social is crystal clear: changing what we demand and how we live could reduce global emissions by 40–70% by 2050. This is not a marginal add-on. It must be at the heart of climate policy🧵
