I'm grateful to have had the opportunity to contribute this new op-ed to the @hilltimes.com, pushing back on the misinformation and fear mongering being promoted by some politicians and legal commentators.

No, Indigenous people are not coming for your privately owned land
Despite how fearmongering politicians and pundits are framing the landmark Cowichan decision, the legal test for proving Aboriginal title is extremely difficult for most First Nations to meet.

Very excited for my @oktlaw.bsky.social colleagues who helped secure this result by showing that Alberta separation would interfere with our clients' Treaty rights.
After the province tabled Bill 14 yesterday, which would have stopped the court proceedings on whether a proposed Alberta separation question contravenes the Constitution, the judge came out at a previously scheduled appearance today and just... dropped his decision. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

Living in the closet is psychologically distressing, exhausting, painful and just generally shitty and those of us who are out know that *because we spent time in the closet and remember what it was like. It is not a bad thing to “romanticize” being able to be out and authentically yourself.
