After listening to this, I’m even more outraged, Mayor Sim doesn’t have a good explanation to anything. The budget is worse than what I already thought. The elections can’t come soon enough

Next year, we’ll do this too 👇
Katie Wilson, Seattle’s newly elected mayor, has embraced a city-owned startup designed to emulate Vienna’s social housing model, which involves a public developer building housing designed to be permanently affordable.
Progressives Win in Seattle, Changing Directions on Public Safety
Voters ousted a mayor who oversaw a surge in encampment sweeps, and a Republican prosecutor who pursued punitive policies toward homeless people and drug users.

You can like or dislike fireworks, enjoy the post-show exodus from downtown or abhor the crowds, but the Celebration of Light is probably the biggest event that celebrates Vancouver's Vancouverness.

This budget debate is painful.

The mayor sets an arbitrary budget target (so he can say he raised taxes less than the last mayor) then he shovels money at the police ….

and then every other city budget item has to justify its existence vs “filling potholes”.

“People who pay for this expect the money is going to go back into the park systems, making our community centres, our arenas better. But the city is taking that money out of the park board and putting it into other priorities of the city.”

ABC's slash-and-burn budget harms the whole city, including:

-the Equity Office
-Climate and Sustainability Department
-Britannia Community Centre
-Vancouver Public Library
-Parks Board.

All to help the filthy rich.
