I think it’s really important for smaller creators to somewhat engage with the audience they wish to create.
I know folks don’t want to run the risk of creating a parasocial relationship but why should I watch anyone do anything when it feels like an audience grab?

this is a solid analogy for right wing ideas in general and why you never “debate” fascists. they just need a soapbox to be loud from so their ideas sound legitimate. the dumbest people fall for it and give it a false credibility and let it poison their brain. we got the numbers

One of the producers on Guilty Gear Strive said it was basically impossible to source player feedback on balance changes online because nobody had original opinions and would just parrot what the most popular content creators said and so they had to rely on data and I think about that every day.
