Chopin Etude Op. 10 No. 1 "Waterfall"

An exercise of right hand arpeggios. Left hand plays octaves.

First Etude in set Chopin dedicated to Liszt.

Audio muffles to avoid clipping since I'm close to the piano. Maybe I need a dedicated mic.

Forgot to put the stand down. lol

incredible that the history of modern anasthesia can be traced back to a 21 year old dude accidentally dicovering whippets and then having all his friends come over to do whippets and then writing up an extensive trip report

A crime that nobody will let anybody officially localize this show. Frankly, it's the best adaptation of Sailor Moon (fight me).

Facebook launched 22 years ago this week.

In 2025, Meta paid an effective federal tax rate of 3.5% — its lowest on record.

Meanwhile, Meta is pumping at least $65 million into super PACs to stifle regulation of AI and tech.

Trickle-down economics isn't just a hoax, it's corrosive to democracy.

The next topic in our sports issue is gambling, the 2nd-highest service-sector industry for GDP growth between 2019 and 2024(!). It has taken over games, leagues, state treasuries, and of course the mostly male bettors, who trend young. Really young. Middle school young.

States and leagues must face up to the damage from app-based gambling for the next generation of bettors, most of them young men.

Today's story from our Business of Sports issue is from me, on how it's becoming harder to be a sports fan.
Our love for our teams is monetized. Our stadiums and arenas have become gated communities. Now we're paying even to watch on TV. When will we say enough?

Some pianists or classical music lovers out there would like to know that Kyushu, Japan hosts an annual Martha Argerich music festival.

There are also two documentaries produced by her daughter: Bloody Daughter + ENCOUNTER

Wonder if the Tower Records in Japan carries the later.

Recently watched the later of Makoto Shinkai's Disaster trilogy since I saw 君の名は many years ago.

I don't remember prominent product placement in it as it is in these latest two movies.

Inすずめの戸締まり, it makes sense for one company, but the rest seem distracting.

天気の子 ends as a middle finger to it.

Well... this strategy of one anime movie a night should put me in a better mood hasn't really been going well for the whole month as somehow the movies I choose are sad anime.

(Maybe most anime movies are sad or emotional?)

Ah well. At least I'm more knowledgeable in one genre now.

Sometimes I question the value of rating systems these days. What exactly does 5 star mean? What if I want a 3 or 4 star experience?

I now get annoyed when looking at film, video game, and store ratings.

I would have never bothered with some films if I adhered to only 5 star ratings.

Decided to watch both 1983+2010 live action movies of
The Girl who Leapt through Time (時をかける少女).

The 1983 version while slow-paced and dated is somewhat charming but also kind of creepy. I now see that the anime actually has some easter eggs referring it.

Motives though cheesy make more sense.
Recently watched The Girl who Leapt through Time (時をかける少女). aka Life is Strange: anime edition (though that video game came out much later)

Surprised to hear Bach Goldberg Variations BWV 988 (Aria & First Variation+) in it.

Bach is truly timeless.

I liked it overall despite its problematic plot.
