I really wish we'd stop calling them climate "skeptics" or "vaccine skeptics", if you jump off a cliff we don't call you a "gravity skeptic"

By shooting for 3 degrees Celsius of warming, the world could slide toward a more cataclysmic 4 degrees.

The really annoying thing is that we knew well in advance and have had every opportunity to avoid climate destabilization.
"Warming is going to exceed 1.5°C. We are heading into “overshoot” within the next few years. The world is going to become more turbulent and more dangerous. So, what comes after failure?" Some thoughts from Johan Rockstrom & me 10 years after Paris Agreement.

The world lost the climate gamble. Now it faces a dangerous new reality
The world bet on collective but voluntary action to keep global warming at a safe level.

So true.
Anyway, my fellow arctic-winter inhabitants, this is your daily reminder to:

- Take your vitamin D
- Take your cod liver oil
- Use your artificial sunlight
- Check your storm proofing
- Plug your engine warmer in
- Meditate on your life choices/why the hell you didn't live literally anywhere else

I’m certainly not a fan of Ebba Busch or her party the Christian Democrats, but in this our current government is absolutely right. We need to stay away from the US and cooperate more closely with Canada.
Swedish Deputy PM: Sweden needs to pick its friends wisely, and we are choosing Canada… So when we come to America, we come to Canada now.

look, some people say the earth should be habitable, others not, obviously the earth should be just bearable habitable, for a little while longer. . .

With current pledges, the world's on track for 2.6°C of warming in 2100 compared to preindustrial levels.

10 years ago, before the Paris agreement, it was 3.6°C

20+ years ago, we thought it would be 4-5°C

So 2.6°C is better, but the problem is that climate impacts are way worse than we predicted.
World still on track for catastrophic 2.6C temperature rise, report finds
Fossil fuel emissions have hit a record high while many nations have done too little to avert deadly global heating

#Finlandization means a powerful country bending a smaller neighbor to its will, especially in foreign policy, while allowing it to be nominally independent... as long as it toes the line.

In short, what happened to #Finland after the Second World War.

🔥 The never-ending narrative…
This week, I’ve once again heard prominent climate researchers dismiss individual action as either irrelevant or a distraction instigated by the fossil fuel industry.

Here’s a 🧵 on why this argument frustrates me to no end and why I think it misses the bigger picture.

One unrealistic study showed a hyped product work, another better one showed it doesn’t. Media went with massive headlines promoting the first one…
Det snabba och tydliga svaret är nej. Det lär inte ha någon betydelsefull effekt alls.

Men det här är en väldigt bra video som förklarar varför.

We can use the money better ways!!!
I have a long running case of 'the big number'. Basically, in every lobbying doc they try to come up with 'the big number' of what it will cost, or save, to do what they want the reader to do, or not do. Most of the times these numbers are silly extrapolations not worth anyone's time. 1/
