Howdy! @kingdomofthreads have let me know there's a Black Friday sale on for all their merch, including the Dragonfall goodies! 30% off until Dec 1st. I really love what they cooked up & that they hired long-time reader/fan artist @layahimalaya to bring Arcady, Everen, Sorin, and Jaculus to life!

I wrote a character traumatised by their upbringing and their betrayal at the hands of their only living family.

Then they found someobe who made them feel human and safe, and lost them.

In their grief, they went to hell for this person.

So many readers hate this character.

Guess their gender.

If you're wondering how our Neil Williamson puts together anthologies like Blood in the Bricks (NewCon Press), he's written about his process for next year's Collective: The Collaborative Art of Anthologies. Check it out at the link below.

People who are not me have compared the novel to Alix E. Harrow, Ava Reid, V. E. Schwab and Emma Törzs.

I compare it to drinking a lot of red wine and having a disaster relationship crash-out while your life is falling to pieces but also magic happens.

Much in the same manner as 'sh*t happens'

This has lost me thousands of pounds (not to mention book sales) and put me in a state of terror and panic. I urge anyone thinking of moving their list from Substack, or wanting to know more about how Substack works, to read it....
I'm not going back to Substack. I will continue to post my newsletters from Ghost. But I did have to get back in there, just to post this and let people who thought I'd vanished know about this utter nightmare: substack.com/home/post/p-...
An Explanation (Which I Would Be Very Grateful If You Took The Time To Read)
What follows is a minor modern horror story.

This is truly sad news - Psychopomp were making a name for themselves as publishers of excellent speculative fiction.

It's a tough world for small presses, and they seem like genuinely decent folk

The Micah Grey trilogy is a whimsical gaslamp queer fantasy with found family. Escape into the circus or step onto the magician's stage.🎪 🔮 🪄 🎩 ✨

Seriously though everyone buy this book it’s incredible and I loved it
I was once told that this book - Magic, Maps, and Mischief - written by an autistic person about the autistic experience, did nothing new.

I didn't agree, and put it down to people judging worth differently.

1,600 sales later since October 24th, I'm glad people agree with me ❤️
