Megyn Kelly: "I know somebody very close to this case…Jeffrey Epstein, in this person's view, was not a pedophile…He was into the barely legal type, like he liked 15 year old girls…He wasn't into like 8 year olds…There's a difference between a 15 year old and a 5 year old."

All the people in those emails want you to believe that transgender people are a threat to your children.

I think we should prevent rich men from being allowed to go near schools, play sports, or use a public restroom.

Well, he's certainly stayed consistent on that point!

If there’s one thing I learned from reading @matt-levine.bsky.social ’s Money Stuff it’s not to write “DO NOT REPEAT THIS INSIGHT” in an email that also contains the alleged “insight.“
Here's the full Summers email, btw.

Today is a good day to remember, and to say, that the #MeToo movement was right, and was righteous, and has been vindicated over and over again. There was no overreach. There was no excess. There was no they-went-too-far.

So much work remains to be done.

Last offseason it was annoying that every article about the Guardians asked “When will they trade Steven Kwan?” But this year, every article will remind us that Ortiz and Clase sold their birthrights for a mess of pottage AND ask “When will they trade Steven Kwan?”
Concern that gambling threatens the integrity of sports is not a matter of "moralizing mythmaking" and never has been; it is a simple preference on the part of viewers and fans for the sports they watch to be broadly legitimate competitions. defector.com/everybody-st...

Now do Cleveland.
I sat down with a Seattle city planner to discuss this project so long ago that I can’t quite remember when it was. 2010 when we took my stepson to visit Cornish? 2006 when I was in town on a makeshift book tour? The 1990s sometime? Anyway, glad it’s finally done.

My political hot take is that US voters should be able to recall elected representatives via petition - at any time.
No more hiding behind election terms.

This, so much. Chuck and Co. think they can sacrifice voters in order to win voters.

I … just don’t see how that’s a viable strategy, but what do I know?
I've talked a lot since the book came out in August about how developing an actual vision is narratively important for Dems. But also, more substantively, there's a temptation absent a vision to let people suffer from GOP policies and actions in the hopes Dems benefit from the backlash.
Ezra Klein, having spoken to a "dozen or so House and Senate Democrats" over the weekend, says at least some of them worried extending the ACA subsidies would take them off the table as a political issue and wanted Republicans to keep the filibuster.

Totally normal day where the Supreme Court is earning more respect than the Democrats.

(In fairness, kinda hard to learn less respect than Feckless Chuck. But the Court usually manages it!)

In 2024 Clasé had an unbelievable season, a 0.659 WHIP in 74 innings. Unhittable. Then he was absolutely lit up in the playoffs -- DET knocked him around and then he gave up 7 hits and 2 HR against NYY and had a WHIP above 3. Might just be fatigue, might be good hitters. But now, we wonder.
