Born in South London. Moved from Southwark to Norfolk many moons ago. Will probably end up posting mostly the landscape around Sheringham.

The penny dropped and the mechanism emitted a faint whirring noise.

@simonhendy.bsky.social A record Michael was involved with.
The Woodbine & Ivy Band’s version of the song Gently Johnny from the Wicker Man soundtrack is still one of the tracks I’m most proud of having released on Folk Police.

It's the 3rd of January 1939, your name is professor James Smith and you are staring at a drawing of a fish. It's not a regular fish. It is a completely impossible fish.

A few photos from around Sheringham this morning, 05/01/26. Before and during the snow shower around 09:30. About 5mm fell. @icelass.bsky.social @metoffice.gov.uk

I'm not a birder really but living in North Norfolk you are in birding country. I spent I while wondering around looking for the Eastern Black Redstart but then it appeared around 09:50, Sheringham, 30/12/25. @icelass.bsky.social

One of the most incredible shots I've ever gotten, in Yellowstone. This coyote walked over a ridge in the blowing snow and posed for me, with a small grin on its face, the snowfalkes like stars in the background.

The desolation and beauty of life and nature is grounding, and so good for the soul.

Gorgeous and crazy, look how the main carriageway isn’t even depicted vertically on the sign and the half has a solidus at 60° (no solidus today) just as the arrows are cut at 60° (rather than today’s 45°); Margaret Calvert’s Transport working hard since 1958 though :)

I’ve posted this before but the light was perfect today- a little Victorian cat paw in a brick at the front of the old Norfolk & Norwich Hospital. As this is on the front-facing corner of the main gates, the bricklayer quite clearly put it there on purpose, at a height where children would spot it.
