This is anecdotal and not about price but as someone who was bullied for being fat through primary and secondary school - i relished in being able to express myself in my clothes and didnt have to wear things i didnt feel comfortable in or compare how it looked on others.🤷♀️
Westlake Boys High School headmaster Paul Fordham reckons wearing a uniform is more economical long-term and contributes to a better learning env't. No evidence for either statement.

I also learned in my crim degree it affects sentencing. Eg unmarried or fat women get harsher outcomes

I'm not the person to comment on NCEA.
But anectodaly - I'm too neurodivergent to be good at exams. I went a year ahead in 1-2 subjects so had passed 7th form with merit by June. Most of my classes were internally assessed. I didn't even attend my only 7th form exam lol.

"Separate the art from the artist" comes up a lot.
My opinion is that, like so many things, it is on a spectrum.
A long-dead entertainer with a brilliant body of work who, we later discovered, kicked puppies is NOT the same as a living, active entertainer who uses revenue to buy puppies to kick.

When I worked in the Women's Clinic at the hospital sometimes I would refer to it as 'obstetrics and gynecology' because we had a heap of patients who weren't women.
