just keep thinking how Black feminists clocked the manufactured "cancel culture" panic from the beginning.

There’s a neighbourhood cat who visits our shop multiple times a day. Can confirm he thrills customers and actually a few have followed him into the store simply because they wanted to see where the cat was going!

The only thing he demands are name brand tube treats in return 😂

An article that has been many months in the making, about the neighbours who volunteered to carry the memories of the elderly recluse across the street, whose entire family would have otherwise been left forgotten.

I’ll be on ‘Ottawa at Work’ on CFRA580 with Patricia Boal in a few minutes talking about my major career change this past year. Tune in at 11:05 to catch the interview.

And if any local media folks want to cover the story of a former political reporter who quit to open a vintage store during an economic crisis because it was the *less stressful option* my DMs are open 😉 😂 @ottawacitizen.com @ctvottawa.bsky.social
Some personal news as they say:

In the last few months I decided to leave political journalism and opened up my own vintage shop in Ottawa’s Hintonburg neighbourhood.

No one experiencing the tragedy of a miscarriage should be arrested, much less abandoned in jail for 5 months with a $100k bond. But that’s exactly what happened to Mallori Patrice Strait in Texas. Women, particularly women of color, in this country are no longer allowed dignity even in extreme loss

I keep getting notices from the province of Ontario telling me I’m overdue for a pap but I haven’t had a GP in 3+ yrs and the province also just asked me to respond to them in an EMAIL with all my personal info if i want to remain on their good for nothing waitlist.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are 1-13 in series-clinching games since 2018, now losing two straight to Ottawa after a 3-0 series lead.

Leafs lost 11 straight clinching games before ending that streak in 2023.

I feel like we need to keep saying this because it’s so insane: This is a legal U.S. resident who has been detained for over a month now for his political opinions.
The Department of Homeland Security denied Mahmoud Khalil permission to attend the birth of his first child, who was delivered at a New York hospital on Monday, according to emails reviewed by The New York Times.

Mr. Khalil, a permanent resident detained in Louisiana, had requested a monitored furlough for the birth. His request was denied in less than an hour.

As a Leafs fan: Go Montreal.

Capitals fans chanting ‘USA’ and wearing redsk*ns merch… with a Putin stan leading the team?

I hope the Montreal kids hit them where it hurts.

While watching the debate I’m also keeping a close eye on my cat, who had to be sedated today to get some X-rays, and is still high as fuck. He’s currently staring into his own soul in the mirror.

After the store about Patrick Brown broke in 2018, everyone told me ‘don’t worry, people in this town have short memories.’

I wish they didn’t.
I don’t know if I can stomach watching a debate moderated by a ‘journalist’ who not only fails to disclose important conflicts of interest but thinks it’s fair game to write about politicians he clearly has personal relationships with open.substack.com/pub/scrimsha...
