What’s happening in Minnesota is proof positive that 90% of the apocalyptic dystopic storytelling is wrong by assuming community doesn’t come together. The Lone Ranger vibe is an absolute fantasy.

After the storm, the road
Beside the graveyard,
Overcome in fake flowers,
Honored the passed, precious
Now snaggled up in hedge
And ditch

I have been actively involved in protest movements for 24 years. I have never seen anything approaching this scale. Minneapolis is not accepting what's happening here. ICE fucking murdered a woman for participating in this, and all that did is bring out more people, from more walks of life.

It feels so strange to keep talking about my book when the world is burning and I wake up every day wondering what fresh hell awaits us. But yesterday someone reminded me that books are our safe spaces. They keep us sane. So I hope that my book will be a safe space for you, stabby sapphics and all.

Flavor-wise, no two Magic: the Gathering cards will out-storytell “Live Fast” and “Die Young” from the Kaladesh expansion. A perfect, short story of a doomed existence as an Aetherborn who lived its life to the fullest.

AI Completely Failing to Boost Productivity, Says Top Analyst
AI may or may not excel at a lot of things, but from an economic standpoint, it's definitely not making us more productive.

But what is too much to bear? Not being alive. So we kept being alive even as they destroyed us. So we buried our secrets though they tried to extinguish our secrets with us. Up until this very day. They keep coming, they never stop. You couldn't kill us all. - Dead Astronauts

Played D&D with some friends on Friday. Friend came over: "I'm recovering from pneumonia. I shouldn't be contagious."

Sunday, today, I'm coughing deep, deep phlegm from my lungs. Could be nothing. Could be the season.

Could be a brutal betrayal.

On this, I also have Smollett's translation of Quixote I need to read ALONG WITH The Female Quixote AND Quichotte. Colleagues who teach 1800s lit definitely created an itch. Now I need to figure out how to get these Project Gutenberg texts onto my ancient Kindle.
I'm not an academic in the formal sense: I don't have anything published, researched or otherwise, but I read (and study) classic texts. I recently came across Porphyry's "On Abstinence from Animal Food" that I literally read ALL OF because of an evil spirit that haunted my MC in an urban fantasy.

And I walked away sighing at how some people are so adamant that they didn't cause a problem so they don't have to help anyone fix it, and won't do a damn thing for the greater good (the greater good) unless they're fawned upon and begged like they're royalty bestowing a grand favour.

Right. The point is not “it matters extra because it’s a citizen,” the point is “we either hang together or we will all hang separately.”
i think it is ok to reiterate that the victim as a us citizen. yes, noncitizens are equally entitled to human rights. but also, it's important to illustrate how ice isn't about immigration at all
