A new kind of tech debt: knowingly allowing the context window to grow, when you know you're at a clean break spot and have an artifact you can use to easily rehydrate the salient bits.

Lately I've been thinking about orphaned code. Code that's still running, live, with no remaining developers or users.

Forgotten hardware devices. Deserted VMs on cloud free tiers. Smart contracts whose DAOs disbanded years ago. Old school internet worms. Abandoned, starving Tamagotchi.

I’ve experienced this first hand a bunch myself, where someone clearly piped AI output direct to me without sufficient review. I reflexively turn to those folks less now.

This isn’t a pessimistic view of LLMs, use them! Just read & review before sending.

Over the past few years, I’ve had the good fortune to find a community of like-minded technologists working to make sense of a rapidly evolving landscape—one in which we risk becoming subservient to the very tools we’ve built.

A quiet movement is forming: entrepreneurs building for human agency — not just agents’ sake.
Read our invitation to join the discussion around building truly agentic tech: products that preserve human agency.

Increasingly rare indeed.

A functional human brain that's capable of critical thinking is already extremely valuable (and increasingly rare) in the years of LLMs.

The real bottleneck for useful AI isn’t just model quality.
It’s the walls around our data.
A thread on walled gardens, economic incentives, and why even the best models can’t help us if they can’t see us. 🧵

One tangible problem with AI hype is that there is a degree of provocative hypothesis that is necessary in order for people to think a little differently about old problems.

But then the hype goes so far that it becomes detached from technical reality, and thus, disqualifies itself.
