The stakes are lower in an ephemeral "conversation", but the interaction is the same guilt-ridden I-got-away-with-it that programmers have been dopamine fueling from for decades.

I say "tech debt" because I feel the same cheeky guilt I feel when I copy and paste a bit of code that I know I should have factored out into a reusable well-named function.

I’ve experienced this first hand a bunch myself, where someone clearly piped AI output direct to me without sufficient review. I reflexively turn to those folks less now.

This isn’t a pessimistic view of LLMs, use them! Just read & review before sending.
