There were 93 homicides in London last year: population 9 million

In New York - population 8.5 million - there were
391.

London's homicide figure is 6 times lower than LA, 9 times lower than Miami, 17 times lower than Chicago.

And it's falling year on year despite the population increasing

Wales now has a pleothera of political leaning podcasts, all welcome, and they all come up with bits and pieces of interest but apart from the long established and best resourced #walescast they rarely have guests and just rely on opinion albeit informed.
Need more voices.

Increase in productivity since 1979: 87%

Increase in hourly pay since 1979: 32%

Just so happens that ~25% of workers were unionized in 1979. Today? 10%.

As unions declined, the super-rich have taken a larger share of wealth generated by labor. We must build back union power.

The recently heralded news confirmed then. Three of them in one location I wasn’t expecting.
Energy is clearly key to so much so on the whole has to be welcomed for me.

But to see a leisure centre we had agreement to do this years ago as a community energy project, when feed in tariffs were much higher only for the council to say no; leaves a somewhat bitter taste.

The facility has a capacity of 300MW/600MWh.

Much larger batteries are under development: A huge 1 GW / 4 GWh system is being constructed in Jänschwalde, Germany.

This a big deal: "China’s carbon dioxide emissions have been flat or falling for 18 months"

China's economy has grown by ~5% in the last year, so this comprehensively debunks the idea (again) that emissions are tied to growth. So yes, faster progress needed, but this is how you turn the corner.

This is full of mildly astonishing revelations about right-wing influence at the BBC, but foremost among them is the fact that he was advised that writing for the New Statesman was effectively unacceptable but doing so for the Spectator was fine - indeed, advisable. I am flabbergasted.
The reaction to the Panorama edit has been nothing short of hysterical. Yes the BBC has some impartiality problems. But its biggest isn't the one you think.

New piece from me.

Often it is said that wales lacks entrepreneurs and entrepreneurial spirit. I think it’s such a damaging narrative. And the reality is so far from the truth. Just reading about the berry brothers from Merthyr. What a story and lives they led. Titans of the British establishment.
