The money for Trump’s “Warrior Dividends” has already been approved by Congress for troops so they can afford housing and basic living expenses.

Trump is NOT rewarding our service members with new bonuses, he’s just renaming funds that troops were already going to receive to score political points.
Trump will use military housing money for $1,776 Pentagon bonuses
The Trump administration will repurpose $2.6 billion in military housing assistance to pay $1,776 “warrior dividend” bonuses to service members, according to a senior administration official.

longstanding theory on this is that people who know the applicant that they don't want to hire has racial resentment offer "wish i could've hired you, but they made me hire a black woman instead!" as a let-them-down-easy cope rather than admit to them that they just didn't want to hire them.

The White House claims the vote to rename the Kennedy Center was “unanimous.” That is false. I was muted on the call and denied the opportunity to speak or register my opposition. That is not consensus. That is censorship.

Of the newly-added country, Nigeria faces the largest impact, with tens of thousands of visas issued every year to Nigerians.

For better or worse, public figures are judged when they die — their character, contributions, beliefs. It's undeniable that millions have mourned Rob Reiner's tragic death, celebrating his talent and contributions. I suspect when a certain public figure kicks the bucket, sentiments wont be the same

Rob Reiner either made your favorite movie, or made somebody you know’s favorite movie. If you’re a Californian, he’s also part of the reason you or your friends can get married. He has changed more lives for the better than this asshole commenting on him ever did.

We sent 9 weeks reading Catcher in the Rye and 9 weeks reading The Outsider at my public High School in the mid-1980s. I can count on two hands the number of my classmates who regularly read books outside of school. Kids should be reading more, but be wary of overly nostalgic declension narratives.
In American high schools, many teenagers are assigned few full books to read from beginning to end — often just one or two per year, according to researchers and thousands of responses to an informal reader survey by The New York Times. trib.al/gNp7kWK

If you read a book in the library and place the book on a table and leave, the library can count that as “usage” and when the library workers reshelve books, they’ll know that book has been used

God, I’m really upset how much hate I know Starfleet Academy is going to get. It’s Star Trek made for the CW-style crowd, which is PERFECTLY FINE. But because it’s not intended as mass audience aimed mainly at boomer dudes, it’s gonna face so much vitriol. Especially those kid actors. Angers me.

Buy a book.

Any book, it doesn't matter which. The one you've been looking forward to, the one with the title that made you laugh, the weighty award-winner you've been meaning to get to. Whatever.

Treat yourself. Step away from it all. In this time of gross ignorance & madness, read something.
