In the overstuffed closet containing things about which I shall never give a listless fuck, the status of alternatives to nationally-backed currencies or recognized commodities will forever reside. These are Dutch tulips. This is a long-con pyramid game. Every rube should lose his last nickel.
Despite? Or because there is no surer indicator that something is a scam?

Routine ethnic slurs, defamation of fallen soldiers, casual insults... this is the grist of Trump diplomacy. The insults particularly target America's closest and longest-standing allies. And US media really, really doesn't want to report on them. But here's an example from Poland.

Kavanaugh’s moral and intellectual failure.
2/ Justice Kavanaugh's logic (in Noem v Vasquez Perdomo):

"If the person is a U. S. citizen or otherwise lawfully in the United States, that individual will be free to go after the brief encounter."

Sworn affidavits show how, on the ground, this is simply not how it plays out with ICE.

Judge Jerry Blackwell’s own comments deserve attention: Unlawful detention “falls on the heads of those who have done nothing wrong to justify it. ... The overwhelming majority of the 100s seen by this Court have been found to be lawfully present ... in the country.”

Trump to NBC on the Fed: “I mean in theory it’s an independent body. But I think, you know, I’m a smart guy.

“I know the economy better than almost everybody.”

Too stupid to know he’s stupid. A prime example of Dunning-Kruger, like many of his followers.

The corruption went into overdrive even before the inauguration. People saying that the American system of checks and balances is holding are detached from reality. When it comes to checking corruption, they don’t seem to exist.

Trump reversed decades of national security objections to selling advanced AI chips to UAE. National security experts were alarmed.

But there was a secret. Before the deal, UAE had sent $187M to the Trumps and $31M to the Witkoffs in secret payments.

Mind blowing corruption.

Judge Biery signed the order with a photo of Liam and two bible verses: The first is "But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven." The second is simply "Jesus wept."

Astonishing thing for a judge to do.

Trump is trying to raid the government’s coffers again - file a big lawsuit, force his own regime to “settle,” pocket the cash.
President Trump has filed a lawsuit against the IRS, in which he demands that the IRS, which he as president controls, pay him $10 billion.

So, incredibly, the White House has chosen to escalate in blue Minnesota and retreat in Maine to protect a vulnerable GOP Senator.

It's confirmation that Trump-Vance-Miller view ICE as a partisan govt-backed militia to attack blue America while propping up their regime. 1/

An extraordinary document. Read it.

“Attached to this order is an appendix that identifies 96 court orders that ICE has violated in 74 cases. … ICE has likely violated more court orders in January 2026 than some federal agencies have violated in their entire existence.”

In Printz v. United States, #SCOTUS held that the Constitution bars the federal government from forcing or otherwise compelling local or state governments to enforce federal law.

The liberal squish who wrote the majority opinion in that case? Justice Antonin Scalia:

The people of Minnesota have executed one of the most impressive civil resistance campaigns I can remember:

- Organized a city wide general strike
- Maintained nonviolent discipline amidst violence
- Mobilized 10,000s in subzero temps to protest and watch ICE
- Flipped public opinion against ICE

This is one that stands out:

This is an actual post from Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth: Praising ICE after Alex Pretti was killed, blaming the Democratic leadership of Minnesota, and writing that ICE is greater/better than Minnesota.

He is actively demeaning the people of Minnesota just hours after Pretti was murdered.
