I subscribed to Locus awhile ago and one thing it does really well for me is just like... give a list of a bunch of new fantasy and sci-fi literature that came out with short descriptions. This is a wonderful little non-commercial piece of discovery engine for me, something other than store algos.

this is the kind of thing the romantasy booktok people use 40 different types of gel pens and pristine handwriting to annotate in books called "a journey of crowns and feathers" which are only slightly less embarrassing than the ring cycle
the notes i made in my copy of the ring libretto back when i first i got into it are some of the most embarrassing scribblings of all time. "he loves her more than anything in the world." NOT HELPFUL

I'm starting to go through some of my common, but not historically important finds, and making them more presentable, for display.

Using a stone tumbler/polisher.

Brass and copper come up well. Not going for full polish, I like the way the high spots are highlighted.

golden age sci fi is terrible as shit. pkd and ukl are the first good sci fi authors
A lot of "golden age" science fiction has interesting ideas and workman-like-at-best prose, and Asimov was no exception to this. He and many other GA SF writers benefitted from "first-mover" status, and also, editors who preferred neat SF concepts (and men) over exceptional prose (and women).
Luke warm take? His stuff was influential but kinda-mid.

video game about, say, an adventure on a sci fi planet, but the characters are all simulated as people *playing* as those characters in an adventure on a sci fi planet and sometimes the outside world interjects itself on the action
Which is stupid, they should be reinventing theater, which is the medium closest to games
