This is what I get up to while I rewatch THE TWILIGHT ZONE. This was the cover for @seananmcguire.bsky.social 's collection of short stories LAUGHTER AT THE ACADEMY, full set of illos $20 at my Patreon, plus the free-to-read webcomic SETTLERS OF THE STORM WORLDS. www.patreon.com/c/carlaspeed...
Thank you! I expect she can do a very beautiful, angry fan-dance with all those stinging fins.

@seananmcguire.bsky.social loves a fierce mermaid, and I am here for it. Drawing hair underwater is also always fun, it's like clouds, but also ribbons. Part of a large set of illustrations for short stories, $20 at my Patreon, along with free-to-read webcomics. www.patreon.com/c/carlaspeed...

Hell yes
Pro Tip: Your skill as a manga translator is not your ability to translate dialog.

It is your ability to translate sound effects.

Push botton, read comics
Maybe we could mount them in one of these

Boy, I’ll bet… I really like the immersive quality of the vertical scroll, but it’s not a one-to-one transition, for sure.
Well, not too noble on my part since lettering to the pacing of the vertical scroll meant I overwrote by a substantial amount for a printed page, so it had to be done.

Mais bien sûr
(I found it on Etsy, btw)

Makes it sound like I could wear a turkey leg charm around my neck as a protective amulet.

“No no, doesn’t count, it’s still Thanksgiving!”

(Yeah, we should!)
Hold the door until the last turkey leg has been eaten, Carla

(also, hope you're well. we really should catch up one of these days)

The Mariah Carey thing doesn’t start officially until December, right? Otherwise I have already lost four times.

Yeah, I talked to (probably) the same people. 🤡🤷🏼‍♀️😟
A webtoonsesque service approached me looking to take About Comics titles and present them in scrolling format.

They seem surprised to hear that the artists would kick me in the shins if I did that to their art b

Lotta work. hats off to you for putting in the extra.
When we did OUTRAGE, @reillybrown.bsky.social drew the story in standard comic book size then pulled the panels and turned them into a vertical scroll.
I scripted to the scroll, which meant a lot more work rewriting/re-lettering for the printed version afterwards, but the art was all done!
It's almost like the delivery format has an effect on the storytelling experience

I think a lot of webtoons have bad pacing when collected because what works for an infinite scroll read doesn't work on the page. And print editions are unwilling or unable to do the edits that would solve the pacing issues caused by the medium switch

I really like some things about the vertical scroll. I just don't think that way. (dinosaur noises, flail little wingie grabbies)
One of the many reasons I took my comic off WT. It just doesn't work in vertical scroll.

First early-access post! IDK why I haven't been doing this before now, it's kinda standard practice. This post will be free to read on Tuesday 10 AM, but right now a mere dollah will get you there if you're of a mind to do it. Thanks to all. ❤️‍🩹❤️ www.patreon.com/posts/settle...

Yep
I have yet to see a scroll comic read well in a print format. Just like a unedited movie doesn't port over to radio.
