Those calling for Europe to act, to step up, etc, etc. need to get specific for what they are calling for. Is it really just about more national spending? The countries that back Ukraine the loudest are often the most reticent to empower Europe to take collective action (see Eurobonds, etc).

One thing we didn’t hear from the Europeans though is the threat of more pressure on Russia if there’s no ceasefire or a deal. They explicitly mentioned such option in their post-Alaska statement on Saturday — yet no one mentioned it during the press mtg w/ Trump.

Trump blaming the victim, as usual. How about “President Putin of Russia can end the war with Ukraine almost immediately if he wants to”? Unlike Trump, some of us do remember how the war started - with Russia’s illegal annexation of Crimea & his acts of aggression in the Donbas.
Absolutely any war can always be ended "almost instantly" if you want - for this it is enough to simply capitulate. In fact, Trump directly accuses Ukraine of not capitulating.
