FEMA has awarded only about 10% of the $20.7 million requests for Helene-related relief. And what little has been approved is going to engineering and planning support, not home buyouts.
New: FEMA records show the agency has spent millions less on hazard mitigation in NC than expected this year thanks to delays.

As FEMA and state officials feud about who is to blame, families are left paying for homes that are too flood-damaged to live in.

North Carolina homeowners in limbo as they await FEMA buyouts after Helene
State officials say applications to FEMA for more than $200 million in aid for homeowners have sat unapproved for months.

We love you Maddie. For 16 years you were my rock. A tiny girl with a huge presence. Not many cats would tackle 4 cross-country moves, camping trips & raising 10 puppies with curiosity and grace. You feared nothing & loved your people hard. Andrew & I are broken without you. @apantazi.bsky.social

Years ago, border czar Tom Homan saved undocumented immigrants from deportation in Phoenix.

Then came Trump. Now Homan's former colleagues don't recognize the cruel man -- "Hulk Homan," one calls him -- that he's become.

Tom Homan once spared Phoenix migrants. Now he’s Trump’s Darth Vader
Pre-Trump, colleagues of border czar Tom Homan described him as reasonable. Now, they see a cruel man they don’t recognize.

The epitome of living with chronic migraines is being such a pro at pushing thru severe symptoms bc we’re taught to be ashamed of our headaches, that we’re overreacting, that we’re hypochondriacs to the point that an MRI finds a scar showing that years ago you had a stroke and you just kept going.

Fast-growing AZ school districts depend on bonds. But the fastest growing ones are in Trump-leaning areas. The better Trump does in a Maricopa County precinct, the worse a bond campaign does. The correlation grew with each of Trump's runs. By me, @azcentral.com:
