Getting a count on the number of arrests in North Carolina took some serious data surgery because 20% of the rows were null for the Apprehension State field. Check out my github repo for my methodology. I hope this helps others trying to get counts in their states!

Excited to get to know this incredible state and tell your stories. I'm a long way from home but vibes here are so welcoming I already feel at home.

I've dug into school bus safety, school finances, public health issues (mainly in regards to vaccines), and elections. Lots of elections and voter trend stuff.

I moved from AZ, where I spent ~ 10 years at the Arizona Republic. My investigations prompted sweeping impact there, including the state's first-ever memory care standards, tougher assisted living oversight and the state-takeover of the most violent facility.
