Journalists—HALP!

Today at the National Postal Museum, I learned that newspapers were named after their means of distribution, with “the post” being “A POST” as in, “nailed to a giant stick.”

Which begs the question: was there an original Washington Post?

I was watching random YouTube shorts and a video of some right wing MAGA complaining about US athletes using their platform at the Olympics came up. What better place to say you don’t support our country or government? I wish MORE athletes would do this, not less.

Absolutely. And I think you’re seeing Nintendo take advantage of this lately by adding random free updates to older titles. All of a sudden games like Pikmin 4 and DKCR are getting new content long after they were released, and people go “oh yeah, I never did pick that up.”

Nintendo’s long term pricing strategy has really helped insulate them from this. I know there’s no point in waiting for a sale because it’s probably at least two years away from launch and likely only gonna be 20% or maybe 30% off at most, ever.

We have a relatively small group of price insensitive game buyers that, if interested in a game, will buy regardless of price, and will buy the most expensive edition available.

Most others will wait for dirt cheap sales, giveaways or sub services.

K shaped game buyers for the K shaped economy.
Besides being #indiedev who prices low already and has dropped over the years and supports affordable games.
Consider this:

My kids buy games at $2.99 or $1.99 on sale. Down from $19.99 (on Switch, but Steam is no different).

it's called a race to the bottom, we've hit the bottom. We're there.

Medicare for All would save $450B a year.

Every dollar spent on food stamps generates $1.50-$1.80 in economic activity.

Each dollar going to low-wage workers adds $1.20 to the economy overall.

It’s not about what this country can or can’t afford.

It’s about priorities.
