I would like the people who celebrated Duterte's arrest and advocated for Bukele's assassination to maybe cool off on the 'kidnapping heads of state' thing today.

To be honest, I think this actually makes the opposite of the point it seems to be trying to make. Who has had a greater influence over the trajectory of politics and policy, Bari Weiss or hbomberguy?

It matters who your audience is.
When @hbomberguy.bsky.social releases his next video on Adobe, it will, within a week, have more views than everything Bari Weiss has ever written, people do not seem to understand this

These lib takes on Sicario are cope, frankly.
there's a lot of dumb shit that you can pin on media and how Americans perceive the world but it is a little unfair that Sicario became the "cool badass operators taking out cartel guys" movie for morons because the very explicit text of both movies is that none of that shit works

Honestly, everyone who gets flooded with spam because of this freakout deserves it.
since the "google is now training gemini on your email contents" thing keeps bumping around here: it's _not happening_. I say this not to defend google but because I know a lot of people that have broken their filtering and made their lives much more annoying from sheer misinformation.
The malwarebytes Google opting-your-emails-into-ai-training thing is not true. The post is based on one bad tweet.

I know anti-tech lamenting is a Bluesky core principle, but please use the same judgement you would for any other clickbait.

Based on some other posts today, I'll note that this site is 110% better if you come in guns hot with a normie lib take, and then do a few rounds of mass blocking (and also collect blocks) based on the reactions. One's leisure time is too precious to be spent arguing with maladjusted commies.

I don’t care if Schumer voted no. If he’s unable to wrangle the caucus, he’s not an effective leader. I’ll continue to push for the caucus to elect a new one.

Wanna be clear on something: the reason caring about who's blocklisted you is contemptible is because using someone else's blocklists in the first place is ALSO contemptible.

PSA: Before this "dislike" thing gets out of hand, because I've seen some very big accounts misinforming people, here's what it actually is.

It's a private option that lets you see less of topics you're not interested in on certain feeds. That's it.

It's not a downvote, thumbs down, etc.

Liberalism is the belief that you can have any religion you want so long as you don't actually believe in it.

Hey @bsky.app why is the contrast on the selected item in the options menus so low now. It's almost impossible to see what option you have selected.

I do think that takes about how whatever "is so bad because Joe Biden was senile and had dementia" are all bullshit because of the fact that Joe Biden wasn't senile and didn't have dementia. I hope to not confuse people with this take but I'm very firm on it and I mean it. Thank you.

I'm definitely becoming a year zero guy for social media. shut it the fuck down. go back to RSS feeds and vbulletin forums. it should be more costly run a social media platform, doing so should involve more legal exposure, and it should be more difficult to access them.

I mean the big difference here is that there was actually convincing evidence that Corbyn was antisemitic, or at best did not take antisemitism seriously as a legitimate problem, where the evidence of that for Mamdani is significantly weaker. Conflating them strikes me as unhelpful.
Over on Facebook, Benjamin Balthaser has a provocative take on why the effort by the right to “Corbynize” Mamdani has failed:
