I've watched thousands of videos from the Jan. 6 riot as part of NPR's reporting and archive project on that day.

Here are some of the lesser known videos that have really stuck with me.

And the DMV as I just found out, arggghhh. I’ll be standing line more often now to get a local postmark.
Also relevant when sending things by mail to the government (including IRS)

This isn’t fully true! You can request a manual postmark at a post office, you just need to know to do it. Just another thing to educate mail-in voters about.

Next year's artists signed contracts to perform at "The Kennedy Center for Performing Arts." Since a venue with that name no longer exists, and one with a very division name many artists would not wish to be associated with does, they should be able to get out of their contracts.

Say @mapcenter.com the “Wild World” map puzzle I bought from the Map Center is really something. It’s easily the hardest and most challenging jigsaw we’ve done, yet equally delightful, filled with discoveries and smiles. A true test of my geography knowledge! Not even close to done, fun for days.

Unbelievable. This would be a terrible blow to American science, writ large. It would decimate not only climate research, but also the kind of weather, wildfire, and disaster research that has underpinned half a century of progress in prediction, early warning, and increased resilience.
Exclusive: The Trump administration is moving to dismantle the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Colorado, according to a senior White House official, taking aim at one of the world's leading climate research labs.

Ways earth science has been political:
-Studying climate of the American West brought the concept of Manifest Destiny into question and challenged notions of American expansionism in the 19th century.
-The discovery of Geological Time upended the Biblical timeline
Studying the earth is political. It always has been and it always will be. The difference is that there is now a political party made up of people whose worldviews are threatened by the very existence of a scientific process.
It's over.

Despite the fact that the academic council recommended against it, despite the fact that the program brought in more tuition than it cost, and despite the fact that Nebraskans need & deserve this expertise, Earth & Atmospheric Sciences will be cut.
